China Airlines Expanding Cargo Routes to China

China Airlines is launching three new all-cargo routes linking Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with Xiamen, Nanjing and Fuzhou.

The new weekly cargo route to Xiamen started on 4 September 2010, while the new weekly service to Nanjing will begin on 11 September. The twice-weekly Taoyuan - Fuzhou cargo service will be launched at the end of September. These new cargo flights are expected to mostly transport electronic goods, textiles and shoes.

CAL currently operates a fleet of 20 Boeing 747-400F freighters, and according to IATA is the 10th largest international cargo transporter in the world.

Since August of 2009, CAL has transported 56,000 tons of cargo from airports in mainland China, accounting for 10% of its total worldwide cargo loads, and CAL also recorded a cargo load factor of over 75% from January to July of 2010.
