Pan Pacific Hotels Group appoints Vice President Restaurants, Bars and Events

Thomas Mayrhofer has been appointed as Vice President, Restaurants, Bars & Events - Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

 In this newly-created role, Thomas will be responsible for developing concepts, quality and business standards for the groups restaurant, bar, culinary and event operations worldwide and explore the possible development of new restaurant and bar brand opportunities. As such, he will assess the groups hotels facilities and human capabilities, as well as the viability of the expansion of the Si Chuan Dou Hua, Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki restaurant brands.

Formerly from Austria, Thomas commenced his career in hospitality in 1983 where he undertook a culinary apprenticeship at Coast Hotels in Canada. In 1989, he moved to China where he joined New World Hotels as Executive Chef, first in Xian and then Beijing.

Thomas returned to Coast Hotels in 2001 where he moved into Executive Assistant Manager and Operations Manager roles. In 2005, he was promoted to General Manager of the Coast Bastion Inn in Nanaimo, Canada, where he undertook a C$8 million dollar renovation of that property. His successful repositioning of the hotel also won it Coasts Hotel of the Year in 2005 and again in 2008.

Other than his successes in culinary arts and hotel management, Thomas also has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

On top of his rich industry experience, Thomas is an avid outdoorsman with interests as varied as golf, fishing, skiing and water-skiing and gardening.
