Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Monday, 8 March 2010

Oz-Bus, the adventure travel company that runs overland bus trips from London to Sydney, is now selling an add-on range of ‘Oz-Bus Down Under’ tours that can extend the epic 92 day journey by as much as another 69 days and incorporate all of Australia’s greatest icons with four ‘down under’ journeys.

For the 30 passengers who arrive in Sydney after crossing the globe through 17 countries and three continents, some will return home and others will have plans already made. But those who wish to explore more of the Australian continent than they have already seen on the journey from Darwin to Sydney can do so, thanks to a new collaboration between Oz-Bus and experienced tour company, Adventure Tours Australia (ATA).

All four ‘Oz-Bus Down-Under’ tours on offer can be booked with Oz-Bus before departure from London. Prices range from £2199 to £4999 and include accommodation, travel and transportation, many adventure tours, tour leaders and national park fees. A vast range of optional excursions and adventure trips are available from just A$10 per person ranging from skydiving and helicopter tours to swimming with whale sharks.

The 21 day Eastern Dream tour costs £2199 and explores the east coast of New South Wales, the Whitsunday Islands, the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. A stay on a 2600 acre cattle station, a cruise on a 20 metre yacht, adrenalin pumping adventures sports on Mission beach and a sunset kayaking tour are just a few of the highlights.

There are two 42 day tours available. Beaches, Reefs and Red Centre costs £3499 and follows the Eastern Dream tour before heading over to the Northern Territory and the Kakadu National Park, down to Alice Springs, Kings Canyon and Uluru, and further south to Adelaide, Coober Pedy, along the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne, and finally through the majestic Blue Mountains back to Sydney. The Big Trek costs £2999 and takes a similar journey in reverse and combines camping with simple roofed accommodation for those on a slightly tighter budget.

Finally, ‘All of Oz’ takes 69 days and costs £4999, and, as its names suggests, it is the once-in-a-lifetime trip around Australia, like no other, including the entire coastline of Western Australia. Accommodation on this tour is made up of budget lodging, bush camps and basic camping. This is the ultimate ‘Oz-Bus Down Under’ tour with which to complete the once-in-a-lifetime overland trip from London to Sydney offered by Oz-Bus.

The 92-day London to Sydney bus trips depart eight times per year and cost £4399 per person including all transportation, tour leaders, roofed accommodation every night until Australia (after which organised camping is provided) and breakfast daily. Sydney to London trips are also now available, along with the 46-day London to Kathmandu and reverse, and London to New York. A maximum of 30 passengers are booked per bus, with a minimum age of 17 but no maximum age restriction.
