Executive Appointments @ Banyan Tree

Banyan Tree Holdings has made the following new executive appointments.

The key appointments are Mr Arthur Kiong, Managing Director, Hotel Operations (Asia Pacific) and Senior Vice President, Group Marketing Services. Mr Kiong will now have charge of hotel operations for Banyan Tree and Angsana branded hotels in Asia Pacific, as well as overseeing Group Marketing Services with business units comprising Field Performance Support, Worldwide Sales, Marketing Communications, Revenue Management, Global Reservations Operations, Customer Relationship Management and e-Business.

Mr. Bernold O. Schroeder has been appointed Managing Director, Hotel Operations (Americas & EMEA) and Senior Vice President, Business Development (Americas & EMEA). In addition to being responsible for all the operational aspects in the properties in these regions, he will be also responsible for sieving out new business opportunities for expansion in EMEA and the Americas.

Mr. Paul Rene Lee has been appointed Regional Director, Hotel Operations – China, and based at Angsana Fuxian Lake in Kunming, China. In his new role, Mr. Lee is responsible for leading, coordinating and supervising all operations and activities for the Group’s properties in China.

All the above positions report directly to Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Executive Chairman, Banyan Tree Holdings.

With 30 hotels operating at year-end 2010, the Group is expected to almost double its number of properties by 2013, with 22 in Asia Pacific, 18 in China and 16 in EMEA and the Americas.

Commenting on this rapid rate of growth, Mr Ho Kwon Ping said, “This is a crucial turning point for Banyan Tree as we move into the next phase of expansion alongside economic recovery and the unrelenting rise of China. These new appointments are critical in preparing us for the journey to becoming a truly global hotel group.”

In 2011, Banyan Tree is expected to open Banyan Tree Riverside, Shanghai, Banyan Tree Macau, Angsana Hangzhou, Angsana Eastern Mangroves in Abu Dhabi, and Angsana Balaclava in Mauritius.
