Rail Europe Extends Partnership with Amadeus to Agents in Asia

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Wednesday, 7 July 2010

Amadeus and Rail Europe have extended their partnership into the Asian market with the rollout of the Rail Europe Smart Tab on the Amadeus Selling Platform in India and Japan.

The partnership increases the reach of Rail Europe’s European railway products and offers Amadeus travel agencies in India and Japan improved access to pan-European rail content.

Amadeus will connect to Rail Europe’s content through the Amadeus Selling Platform. Travel agents will be able to book European rail segments to complement other travel details such as airline, car or hotel, and therefore provide a full itinerary for the traveller.

Pierre Stephane Austi, CEO of Rail Europe said, “Partnering with Amadeus in Asia is an obvious choice for Rail Europe. Tapping on the strength and breadth of the Amadeus network in Asia, we will reach out to even more ticketing agents across the region with instant access to inventories of a wide range of rail products in Europe, including high-speed trains, that can be sold in conjunction with an air ticket.”

The addition of Rail Europe’s extensive rail content – high speed trains, scenic trains, night trains, rail passes (including Eurail) – increases the travel agent’s opportunity to generate additional revenue. Offering rail segments also improves the quality of the travel agent’s service by helping them deliver a complete seamless solution for the traveller.

In addition to proposing flights in Europe, agents in Japan will be able to book an onward journey with rail passes (popular among leisure travellers), or convenient point-to-point travel combinations by high speed rail.

Rail Europe Smart Tab on Amadeus is available to all Amadeus clients in India and will be available in Japan in Q3 2010.

Representing more than 35 European railroads, Rail Europe is the specialist in European Rail and provides the booking process, from inventory to payment in multiple currencies and forms of payment.
