Meydan has signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with Jumeirah Group for the management of its flagship five-star trackside hotel, The Meydan.

Jumeirah was appointed as a service provider to assist in the opening and launch of The Meydan, which welcomed its first guests earlier this year. Since then, the hotel has seen the official opening of the Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse and hosted guests of the 15th Dubai World Cup on 27 March 2010. It has also opened several F&B establishments including Farriers, the all-day dining restaurant, Prime, its exclusive steakhouse overlooking the racecourse as well as a new luxury Japanese dining experience, Shiba, along with a new fitness centre and spa.

Mr. Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Meydan, said, “Jumeirah Group are well-known to us, having managed our successful desert resort and spa, Bab Al Shams. They are an internationally recognised and award-winning hospitality group whose service quality and standards very much meet the exacting standards we have set for all of our Meydan branded products. We are indeed glad to chart a new journey with them for The Meydan, and we have exciting plans ahead both for the property and the brand’s expansion.”

The agreement will cover the management of the five-star hotel property, which includes 285 luxury guest rooms and suites, conference facilities and a business centre, restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness centre and other leisure facilities.

Mr. Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group said, “The Meydan has many fantastic features; proximity to the heart of Dubai, quality of service and rooms, and of course its iconic location at the Meydan Racecourse. It is prestigious for us to be associated with Meydan and what is widely considered Dubai’s latest landmark. We look forward to building upon the excellent reputation that is fast becoming synonymous with the Meydan brand."
