Hawaii’s only Holiday Inn-branded hotel, the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort, will officially join the InterContinental Hotels Group system on 9 November 2010.

The former OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber recently completed a $30 million renovation and now showcases elements of Holiday Inn’s $1 billion relaunch, which was established to create a more contemporary brand image, improving quality and driving consistency across the global portfolio.

The Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort is owned and operated by Outrigger Enterprises Group. Outrigger’s “many brands, one `ohana (family)” strategy leverages the company’s ability to manage multiple brands, while maintaining the acclaimed Outrigger collection of upscale, luxury leisure hotels and resort condominiums located in some of the most desirable destinations throughout Hawaii, the Pacific, Asia and Australia.

“We are excited to welcome Holiday Inn as part of our expanding portfolio of accommodation choices in Hawaii,” said Barry Wallace, senior vice president of operations for Outrigger Enterprises Group. “Guests of the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort can look forward to Outrigger’s outstanding guest service and island hospitality coupled with Holiday Inn’s enhanced standards and services.”

As part of the rebranding effort, the resort now features the hallmarks of the Holiday Inn relaunch, including: upgraded lobby areas, upgraded showers and bathroom amenities, new signage with the redesigned logo and Holiday Inn’s extensive "Stay Real" training program, which will supplement Outrigger’s existing approach to customer service.

The property offers guests comfortable accommodations designed to reflect the unique environment and culture of the area, with modern, revitalized guest rooms, as well as a newly revamped pool, lobby, fitness room and porte cochere. Consistent with Holiday Inn standards, guest beds will be made using crisp, white bedding with pillows that come in two comfort levels: “soft” and “firm”.

Guest bathrooms include a specially designed showerhead that offers superior pressure, as well as a signature shower curtain with curved rod and new amenities.

Close to all the action, the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort is located in the fast-paced heart of Waikiki. The resort’s convenient location is just steps from the beach and surrounded by shopping, dining and entertainment. Nearby attractions include Royal Hawaiian Center, International Market Place, DFS (Duty Free Shop), Macy’s, Duke’s and Waikiki Beach Walk.
