Guinness Challenges Singapore

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Friday, 3 September 2010

September marks the start of the ‘Guinness Adventures’ two month campaign – which will pit Singapore’s most adventurous netizens against one another for the opportunity to win a trip for three to Mount Everest.

From motorcycling around the world to sailing from the South China Sea to the Pacific and scaling the world’s highest peaks, an increasing number of Singaporeans are venturing far in search of real adventure.

Officially launched on 1 September, the Guinness Adventures campaign coincides with the brand’s 251st anniversary and a worldwide toast to Arthur Guinness – a man known for his spirit of adventure.

Teams of up to three are required to register and obtain a series of unique codes via purchase, in order to begin their ascent and scale the virtual peak. At the end of the campaign, the teams that succeed in reaching the virtual peak will be in the running to win the Grand Prize of an all-expense paid 14-day trip to the base camp of Mount Everest.

“Guinness Adventures is our opportunity to reward and celebrate the spirit of adventure in Singapore. With Arthur’s Day just around the corner, we felt this was the perfect time to honour our founder by celebrating his spirit of adventure and giving three Singaporeans the opportunity to go on an experience of a lifetime – an all-expenses paid trip to the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest,” said Mr Paul Bisson, Marketing Manager of Guinness at Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS).

In addition to the Grand Prize, Guinness is also giving away a series of prizes depending on the different ‘altitudes’ each team reaches.

The prizes include Sin$2,000 worth of Guinness and dining experiences at high-altitude locations such as The Sky on 57 at Marina Bay Sands, Equinox @ Swissotel and 1-Altitude by 1 Rochester Group.

The Guinness Adventures campaign closes on 1 November 2010.
