Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract for the Khum Phaya Resort & Spa in Chiang Mai.

The resort, developed at an investment cost of 1 billion Baht, originally opened in October 2009 and will now operate under the Centara Boutique Collection brand.

Khum Phaya Resort & Spa, Centara Boutique Collection is located just 6 km from Chiang Mai International Airport, 3 km from the Night Bazaar, and 1.5 km from Chiang Mai Railway Station.

Designed in traditional Lanna style, combining golden teak with white stone, the resort is set in 2 hectares of grounds shaded by century-old trees.

"Khum Phaya Resort & Spa is a perfect addition to our Centara Boutique brand," said Gerd Steeb, President of Centara Hotels & Resorts. "Small and intimate in scale and with very distinctive architecture, the property is designed for independent-minded travellers who want five-star luxury yet prefer to avoid larger resort hotels ... Our strategy is to grow the Boutique brand significantly, mainly through management contracts, as we feel this is an evolving market that holds immense potential."

Khum Phaya features 80 Superior Rooms and Deluxe Rooms sized at 40 sqm with a choice of upper floor accommodation or ground floor with direct pool access, and with all rooms decorated in the style of a Lanna house.

There are also 4 Villa Suites, with a minimum of 92 sqm of space and each with their own private spa, outdoor Jacuzzi and private garden. The largest of the accommodations is the Phaya Villa Suite, a 290 sqm complex comprising three one-bedroom Villa Pool Suites and a private swimming pool. All villas include private butler and personal housemaid service.

Facilities include a large lagoon style free-form swimming pool, fitness centre, spa, business centre, banquet and meeting room that will hold up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception, and a restaurant serving authentic Northern Thai cuisine along with international and fusion dishes.

There are currently 9 Centara Boutique Collection properties in Thailand.
