Alex Kassatly Joins Grand Millennium Dubai as GM

 Alex Kassatly, a veteran hotelier with more than 30 years’ experience of hotel management in North America, the Middle East and Asia, has been appointed as General Manager of the Grand Millennium Dubai.

Canadian-national Kassatly studied hospitality at Montreal’s Concordia University and Cornell in New York, later graduating from the Advanced Management Program for the Hospitality Industry at the University of Guelph in Ontario.

He joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 1976 and progressed up the career ladder with that chain, becoming food & beverage director at the Château Champlain; rooms division director at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth; director of operations at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and general manager at hotels in Quebec, New Brunswick and New York.

Leaving Canada in 2007, Kassatly transferred to Cairo to spearhead Fairmont’s move in to the Egyptian capital, overseeing the renovation and opening of the Fairmont Towers Heliopolis, before moving on to Asia to take up a post as area general manager for Raffles in Cambodia.

A member of the Chaîne de Rôtisseurs and L’Amicale des Sommeliers, he is also actively involved in charity work, both at fundraising and board level.
