On 9 July 2010, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Africa invited representatives from the Egyptian press and media to participate in house-building activities in Al Kom Al Akhdar village along with its employees from El Gouna, Taba, Pyramids, Media City, El Sokhna and the Africa Area Office, in addition to a representative from Egypt Air.

The team worked in three different houses on various activities including plastering walls, sifting sand, mixing and carrying cement and painting. After finishing, the team toured the village where they saw other houses which were built within the agreement between the two organizations, including the environmental low cost house.

Multiple ways of giving to the community are combined through this partnership. Guests of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Egypt have the opportunity to contribute $1 or more at check out, which will directly impact on local Egyptian families’ living conditions through the Habitat for Humanity programme.

In addition to financial contributions, the partnership offers possibilities for hotel guests to volunteer and build houses in a safe environment with families in need.
