Contiki Beach Netball Festival to Take Place in Singapore on 7 March 2010

Contiki Holidays, a specialist in holidays designed for 18 to 35 year-olds, has partnered with Netball Singapore to host the Contiki Beach Netball Festival 2010 (CBNF 2010). Now in its second year, CBNF 2010 will be held on Siloso Beach, Sentosa on Sunday 7 March 2010 between 09:00 to 18:00.

Breaking the traditional Netball mould with the introduction of 50-foot by 50-foot sand courts, teams will not only have to adapt to the unfamiliar surface but also the fast and physical match that a four-on-four game of Netball brings. Team communication will be vital, running and jumping speeds will differ from hard courts, and the heat of the sun have the sand sizzling and bodies burning – but all in the name of good sporting fun.

In sync with Contiki’s trademark tours for only 18 to 35 year-olds, Netball Singapore will be organising three categories for the one-day event:

- Women Under 23 – JC and Tertiary Institutions Only
- Women Open – Ages 18 to 35 Only
- Mixed Open – Ages 18 to 35 Only

At CBNF 2010, street Netball rules will be in effect. This means games will be played on half-courts with four per team. No position bibs will be used while only two members from each team are allowed in the circle at any time. The matches will be in round robin format with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage on the way to the finals. Each team will have 10 minutes to outscore their opponents in this exciting event.

With over S$10,000 worth of prizes to be won, games are going to be fast and furious. There will also be a host of fringe activities to keep participants and spectators entertained. For participants, there are Surf Clinics provided by Wave House with guided instructor and BBQ dinner from 18:00 to 21:00, and for spectators, there will a series of games, live musical performances and quizzes with vouchers and prizes to be given away.
