Laguna Phuket will be abuzz with travel trade debate and discussion this weekend (24-26 September 2010) when more than 900 delegates of India’s largest travel industry association hold their annual conference at the destination resort.

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) selected Phuket as the destination for its 59th Annual Indian Travel Congress and chose Laguna Phuket, the resort of seven deluxe hotels and villa properties on the northwest coast of the island, as the venue.

The delegates will be housed at six of Laguna’s hotels and the Congress will be staged at Latitude, Laguna’s new 1,500 sq. metre multi- functional events venue at the heart of the resort, where a series of high-level business presentations and discussions, and exhibition, luncheons and gala dinners are scheduled for delegates during the weekend.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to partake in a team building program for up to a maximum of 350 guests organised by Quest Laguna Phuket Adventure, the resort’s onsite management training and team building facility.

Plus various tours to Phuket’s many attractions are being offered to delegates amongst other activities.

“TAAI's objective is to showcase a new destination to our delegates every year and Phuket is an ideal and beautiful destination,” said TAAI president, Rajinder Rai. “Many agents in India have heard about Phuket, but not visited the island. “This Congress will provide the ideal opportunity for our members to experience the best of the destination and gain the knowledge to promote it.”

The TAAI has more than 2,400 members comprising IATA accredited travel agencies, airlines and general sales agencies, hotels and tour operators. Its annual Congress provides an international platform for industry executives to discuss the trends, issues, challenges, technologies, strategies and related issues impacting the evolution of the travel business.
