China Southern Reports Strong Charter Numbers Over CNY

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Tuesday, 23 February 2010

China Southern Airlines has reported a doubling of charter traffic, mainly using Cairns as the gateway, for the recent Chinese New Year period this year.

Including a first ever direct flight or charter to Adelaide from China, China Southern Airlines completed a program of 8 flights, 7 to Cairns with 5 originating from Guangzhou and 2 from Beijing. The Adelaide flight originated from Shenzhen.

The program involved a number of major Chinese tour operators and China Southerns fleet size and range of aircraft enabled either A330-200, A330-300 or B777-200 to be used as the demand required. Over 2000 passengers were carried.

China Southern has also increased schedules to Sydney this month and the recently introduced late evening departure from Melbourne to Guangzhou, is proving to be extremely popular for travellers as it provides same-day connections to 32 domestic destinations.
