Hong Kong Dragon Boat Schedule Changed

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Thursday, 22 July 2010

The Hong Kong Weather Observatory has issued the Strong Wind Signal Number 3, as Severe Tropical Storm Chanthu edges closer to the coast of Guangdong, causing strong winds and swells in Victoria Harbour. As a result, the preparation for the dragon boat race course in the harbour has been affected.

Owing to this, the key programme of the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival – the SaSa 2010 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races – will be shortened from three to two days on 24 and 25 July. As for the San Miguel Beer Garden installed at the UC Centenary Garden in East Tsim Sha Tsui and the adjacent Dragon Boat Fun Plaza, their opening schedule will remain unchanged.

For the SaSa 2010 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races, the races originally scheduled for 23 July will be held on 24 July. The latest race schedule will be uploaded onto the websites of HKDBA and HKTB  and participating teams can also contact the HKDBA hotline (8106 8134) to find out details of the arrangement.

The public is welcomed to watch the races on 24 and 25 July (8:00am to 5:30pm) along the East Tsim Sha Tsui promenade, which will have free covered spectator seating.

As for the San Miguel Beer Garden and the adjacent Dragon Boat Fun Plaza, these will be opened to the public for free between 23 and 25 July from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm as originally scheduled.
