City Seasons Group Promotes Thomas Tapken to MD

Thomas Tapken joined the City Seasons Group at the end of last year as group general manager overseeing the operations of four existing properties. Now, six months later Tapken has been promoted to the position of MD with a greater emphasis on business development and the acquisition of new properties.

“With four existing hotels across the UAE doing very well, we are in an expansion phase right now with a clearly defined plan to further grow our portfolio of hotels into new markets” said Tapken. “We will be opening our first hotel in Oman later this year and are adding more hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi within the next three years”

Tapken will continue to oversee the successful operation of the hotels from recruitment and marketing to supplier management and will also work to identify opportunities for growth. As part of this development Tapken has added a business development manager to the team whose focus will be on securing new opportunities for the growth of the company.

With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, his last position was with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Tapken has a proven track record in the industry and in the region.
