Hertz Appoints Chris Rusden as RVP & MD, Australia and New Zealand

Hertz has appointed Chris Rusden as Region Vice President & Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Rusden is based in Melbourne, Australia and reports to Michel Taride, President, Hertz International and Executive Vice President, Hertz Corporation.

Australia and New Zealand are key, long-term markets for Hertz, with a strong mix of both corporate, replacement and leisure rental business, over 240 rental locations, and a large, diverse fleet of late model vehicles.

Mr. Rusden will be responsible for all Hertz corporate and licensee rental operations in Australia and New Zealand, licensee operations in the Pacific Islands, and Hertz Car Sales in Australia.

Having started his career with Hertz Australia, Mr. Rusden returns to the company’s regional head office in Melbourne after a decade of senior roles in the tourism and automotive industries in Australia and New Zealand, most recently as General Manager of Assist Australia, a key service provider to the Australian vehicle manufacturing, rental and leasing industries.

Prior to this role, Mr. Rusden was Commercial Director of NRMA Motoring and Services, and before that served for seven years with THL Rentals in Australia and New Zealand, first as General Manager Operations and then as Chief Operating Officer. He joined THL after nine years as Director, Operations, for Hertz Australia, having commenced his career in a sales role with the company.

Michel Taride, President, Hertz International, welcomed Mr. Rusden’s return to Hertz, saying, “Chris Rusden is well respected not only within the travel industry in Australia and New Zealand but also within Hertz. He has strong business management and leadership skills and is a passionate and vocal advocate of the tourism industries in both Australia and New Zealand. Chris also has a great record of delivering excellent service to customers, and of providing inspirational leadership to his employees.
