New Director of Finance @ Ritz-Carlton Tokyo

Berinder Thind, has been appointed as the new Director of Finance at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo.

Having spent the last six years working in Japan, Mr. Thind most recently held the Director of Finance position at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto, while also lending regional support for all Hyatt’s other sister hotels in Japan (excluding Tokyo).

“Berinder’s great depth of experience will be an absolute asset to the hotel,” said Francois J. Cnockaert, general manager of the hotel. “He has a great passion for what he does, and I am certain that he will greatly impact the staff with his positive attitude and skill set.”

With a career that includes 11 years with Hyatt Hotels, Mr. Thind has held a variety of finance positions both on property and for Hyatt International offices.

 His career began at the Park Hyatt Sydney before he was promoted to the Internal Auditor position with Hyatt International ASPAC, Hong Kong in 2003. Subsequently, he rose through the ranks to hold the position of Resident Director of Finance at the Hyatt Regency in Osaka, then on to the Grand Hyatt Tokyo where he held the same position for two years, before moving on to his most recent position in Kyoto.

Born in Malaysia, and a citizen of Australia, Mr. Thind holds a Bachelor of Business Degree with a double major in Accounting and Banking & Finance from Southern Cross University on Australia’s Gold Coast, and is an associate member of the Certified Practicing Accounts, Australia (CPA Australia).

 He also is multi-lingual and is fluent in Bahasa Malaysia, Hindi/Punjabi, English and can speak intermediate Japanese.
