Cristal Hotels and Resorts, a new Abu Dhabi-based hotel chain, has said it is planning to open up eight new hotels in China as part of an Asian expansion programme that will also include Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Details of the eight properties have not yet been revealed.

The company has already confirmed plans to expand in Qatar and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly into Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar and Mecca.

Its Abu Dhabi hotel, the Cristal Hotel Abu Dhabi, opened less than a year ago, is one of the few completely dry (no alcohol) hotels in Abu Dhabi. Cristal Hotel offers a total of 192 rooms and suites, all equipped with high-speed internet connectivity, executive desk and IDD interactive telephone with voice mail. Other premium facilities of Cristal Hotel include an executive lounge, the exclusive Cristal Spa, an in-door swimming pool, sauna, and a beauty salon.

“Regardless of the state of the economy global companies will still need to send their key people abroad, thus the resilience of our sector despite the downturn. We want to take advantage of this steady flow of business and establish a strong presence in the emerging markets of Asia as part of our overall Middle East & Asia growth strategy,” said Peter Blackburn, CEO, Cristal Hotels and Resorts.
