After the opening of Swisstel Hotels & Resorts first hotel in India, Swisstel Kolkata, earlier this month, the Swiss-based international hotel chain has now signed management contracts for two more hotels in India, the Swisstel Gurgaon and the Swisstel Whitefield, Bangalore. For both hotels, Swisstel has partnered with different investee companies of The Xander Group Inc., a leading international private equity firm.

Swisstel Gurgaon, National Capital Region, India Opening 2013

Located within 30 minutes drive from the Indira Gandhi International Airport and within close proximity to the highway (NH 8) connecting the capital city of New Delhi and the world famous leisure destination of Jaipur, the Swisstel Gurgaon will offer 240 guestrooms and suites. The hotel will also offer 25,000 sq ft of conference space and ballrooms, a 13,000 sq ft Provel Spa and Fitness Centre, several bars and restaurants serving a range of cuisines, and a beautifully designed pool.

The hotel is part of a large and exciting mixed-use campus development comprised of Class A offices for multi-national corporations and Indias leading business houses, world class retail, and upscale restaurants. The Swisstel Gurgaon and the rest of the campus are well connected by road and Metro to the entire National Capital Region. The development is on Golf Course Extension Road, the fastest growing area in Gurgaon and has a metro station planned directly across the road. On completion, the metro will link the hotel with the centre of New Delhi and to the new Terminal III of the Delhi International Airport.

The project is being developed by a company co-promoted by The Xander Group Inc. and Kohli One, a leading National Capital Region based developer.

Swisstel Whitefield, Bengaluru, India Opening 2013

Strategically located at the entry point of Whitefield and about a 30 minute drive from the Bengaluru Airport, Swisstel Whitefield will offer 151 guestrooms and suites. The Whitefield district is about 15 kms north-east of the centre of Bangalore and is renowned as the cradle of the Indian IT industry, with over 140 multinational companies located in the area.

The amenities for the hotel will include exclusive dining, a rooftop pool and bar, and extensive meeting space for business needs. The hotel is an integral part of a 559,000 sq ft mixed-use project that will include leading retail formats, a state of the art multiplex, restaurants, and entertainment and leisure facilities. The project is designed as a lifestyle destination where business travellers and locals can shop, dine, gather, and stay in an exciting and vibrant atmosphere.

The project is being developed by Virtuous Retail Limited, a Xander investee company.

These two exciting projects enable us to push ahead with our expansion in the promising and strategic Indian market, said Meinhard Huck, President Swisstel Hotels & Resorts. We are delighted to have found a professional partner in The Xander Group Inc., who is entrusting us with the management of these two deluxe hotels and values our Swiss hospitality and our high quality standards.
