Qantas to Increase Perth - Sydney Flights

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Monday, 14 June 2010

From July this year, Qantas is to add six weekly services to its Perth-Sydney route. The additional services will take the total frequency on the route from 48 to 54 return flights per week.

The additional capacity will support customers travelling at peak business times, and the new services will include:

- An additional Perth-Sydney service operating daily from Monday to Saturday departing at 7.05am and;
- An additional Sydney-Perth service operating daily from Sunday to Friday departing at 3.10pm.

“With the addition of the new service, customers can choose to travel to Perth on three afternoon services at either midday, 3.10pm or the early evening 4.50pm service. Our previous schedule did not accommodate a mid-afternoon departure and we are very pleased that we are able to reinstate this capacity,” said Qantas Regional General Manager Western Australia, Mr Ian Gay.

The new services follow the recent commencement of Melbourne-Karratha and Sydney-Karratha services as well as significant capacity increases from Perth to the state’s mining and energy destinations.

Qantas has also invested $75 million in the redevelopment of its domestic terminal at Perth Airport, including a stand-alone security facility, additional quick-check kiosks and baggage carousels, further aerobridge capability, expanded seating and the refurbishment of the Qantas Club lounges.
