Phitek Systems Limited, an electro-acoustic and noise-cancelling technologies specialist, has been selected as the sole supplier of active noise-cancelling headphones for the entire fleet of Thai Airways International.

Phitek’s active noise-cancelling headphones utilise patented Active Noise Rejection (ANR) technology, which they claim eliminates 95% of all disturbing and ambient background noise experienced on flights.

Songsak Namwong, Director of THAI’s Product Development Department, said, “THAI wants the best in-flight entertainment experience for our first and business class passengers. When it comes to sound and audio, Phitek has the best-in-class and most superior active noise-cancelling technology. We are thrilled to be partnering with Phitek and to have this technology on-board our fleet.”

On THAI’s newest jetliners, every premium Royal First Class, and Royal Silk Class (Business Class), seat, will soon be equipped with the state-of-the-art interactive Audio-Visual-On-Demand entertainment system and ANR headphones. THAI also plans to retrofit many of its existing jetliners.

Phitek’s ANR technology works by measuring the actual noise within the ear canal and subsequently calculating an “anti-noise” response, which is then sent to the headphone speaker. The noise and anti-noise signals combine to produce near silence.

Phitek’s patented active noise cancellation technology, in both headphone and connector formats, is also used by Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Air New Zealand.
