The Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre is organising a series of promotions in the fourth quarter of this year to coincide with the first-phase reopening of CentralWorld, one of the biggest lifestyle and leisure complexes in Southeast Asia, which is scheduled for 28 September 2010.

“CentralWorld is at the heart of the Ratchaprasong district, the shopping centre of the city,” said Kobchai Chirathivat, president and CEO of Central Pattana Public Company Limited. “Isetan department store, one of CentralWorld’s anchor tenants, has been open since 24 June. With our refurbishment now nearing completion we anticipate that 90% of CentralWorld will be reopened for customers by the end of September, and that Zen department store will be reopened in August next year.”

Ratchaprasong is adjacent to the Siam Square shopping and entertainment district and is home to some of the city’s biggest and most upscale shopping complexes including CentralWorld, Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Paragon as well as the Erawan and Amarin Plaza.

Easily accessed by the BTS Skytrain, either from the Chidlom or the Siam stations, and with a host of restaurants and entertainment outlets, Ratchaprasong is a major attraction for Thai and international visitors alike, offering as it does every kind of produce, from brand name goods through to arts and crafts and necessary consumer items.

Centara Grand is now planning special food and beverage promotions, spa packages and attractive discounts on rooms to coincide with the CentralWorld reopening, and these will be continuing for the remainder of the year.

“Our hotel and convention centre are already reporting high levels of occupancy and business, and this is going to increase with the reopening of CentralWorld,” said Gerd Steeb, president of Centara Hotels & Resorts. “Ratchaprasong is one of the high points of any tourist’s visit to Bangkok.”
