Privilege, the frequent flyer programme operated
by Brussels Airlines, is to be transferred to Lufthansa’s Miles &
More from the end of October 2009. For the most part, Privilege
members’ mileage accounts will be converted at a one-for-one
ratio, and customers’ respective status will also be recognised. The move marks the latest step in the ongoing expansion
of the frequent flyer partnership launched by both airlines at the
start of the summer timetable. Since the beginning of April,
passengers on Lufthansa and Brussels Airline flights have been
able to earn and redeem miles with the respective partner airline. Furthermore, status customers of both airlines benefit from
additional privileges such as more generous free baggage
allowances, preferential baggage claim and lounge access as well
as the use of dedicated check-in counters. Members of the Privilege loyalty
programme will receive an invitation to join Miles & More.
Once they have given their consent, all the miles in their account
will be transferred to Miles & More at a one-for-one ratio.
Transferred award miles will be valid for at least three years.
Privilege members with the Platinum status will receive the Miles
& More Senator card, while Gold Card members will be awarded the
Frequent Traveller status. In future, Brussels Airlines
will represent Miles & More in Belgium and will provide customer
care services to all Miles & More members resident in Belgium and
to the carrier’s partners in Belgium. The new customer cards will
be sent out in October 2009. Migration from Privilege to Miles &
More should be completed before the introduction of the 2009
winter timetable. Until then, passengers can continue to earn and
redeem miles as usual within the Privilege system. Miles &
More is the frequent flyer programme at Lufthansa, Adria Airways,
Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish
Airlines, Luxair and SWISS. With more than 17 million members, it
is one of Europe’s leading frequent flyer programmes. With Miles & More as its new loyalty programme,
Brussels Airlines is moving one step closer towards
						joining Star Alliance.
