Sue Powers appointed CEO of IT Services & Software by Travelport

Travelport GDS has appointed Sue Powers as Chief Executive Officer of the company’s recently created business unit named IT Services & Software by Travelport (ITS&S).

In this new senior leadership role, Ms. Powers is responsible for managing and expanding Travelport’s portfolio of IT solutions targeted at airlines, hotels, car rental companies, meta search providers and other non-travel agency customers worldwide.

Ms. Powers is also responsible for the Business Intelligence unit which provides marketing and other critical data to the industry.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, she reports directly to Gordon Wilson, President & CEO, Travelport GDS.

Gordon Wilson said, “Sue Powers is the ideal candidate to lead the expansion of our IT Services & Software business, building on her strong industry relationships, particularly with airlines. I am confident that Sue will take full advantage of growth opportunities and provide exemplary service and support to our ITS&S customers.”

Immediately prior to her new appointment, Ms. Powers served as Travelport’s Chief Information Officer, overseeing product and application development for the Galileo, Worldspan and Apollo global distribution systems and associated airline services. She joined Worldspan in 1993 and has held senior roles in sales, marketing, development and e-commerce. Ms. Powers was named “Global CIO of the Year” in 2006 by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association.

Following Sue Powers new assignment, Keith Woodcock has been named interim Chief Information Officer, Travelport GDS with immediate effect.

Having previously performed the role of CIO for Galileo, Mr. Woodcock has a firm foundation and wealth of knowledge from which to develop and drive Travelport’s technology strategy.

He will also continue to lead Travelport’s collaborative work with Microsoft focused on the development of services designed to improve the traveller experience and to provide airlines, travel suppliers, and travel agencies with new revenue and cost reduction opportunities.
