Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 6 July 2009

Thailand-based Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract with Theeppipat Development for its first Centara Boutique Collection branded property.

The Siripanna Villa Resort Chiang Mai, which will have 76 guestrooms, is located in Chiang Mai city centre. The new property is scheduled to soft-open in September 2009.

Centara Hotels & Resorts president Gerd Steeb said that the launch of the Centara Boutique Collection brand is part of the group’s strategy to expand and diversify in Thailand and internationally.

“Our Boutique Collection properties aim to provide high-quality personal service in a setting that is on a more intimate scale than the other brands within the group,” he said.

“Typically, the hotel will have between 70 and 100 rooms, with a high proportion of the rooms being premium accommodation.”

Located adjacent to the Gymkhana Golf Course, the hotel is 1 km from the railway station, 2.5 km from the Night Bazaar, and 6 km from Chiang Mai International Airport.

The 76 guestrooms at the resort will include 48 Deluxe Lanna rooms, 8 Premium Deluxe Lanna Club rooms, 2 Premium Deluxe Garden Sala Club rooms, 16 luxury Lanna Club Villas and 2 Royal Sala Spa Suites.

Room sizes range from a spacious 40 sqm to 70 sqm, with balconies or terraces from 9 to 173 sqm.

Centara Club access will be available to all but the Deluxe Lanna room type, offering Centara’s signature Club service of five daily food presentations and evening cocktail reception.

The all-day dining restaurant is housed inside a traditional Thai house in the garden and will offer international and Thai cuisine in a Lanna setting. There will be 120 seats, with indoor and outdoor dining optional. The lounge area will serve refreshments and have seats for 30 people, and a poolside bar service will be available during the daytime. In-room dining will be available 24 hours daily with a selection of international and Asian favourites.

Recreation facilities include the Royal Spa Cenvaree, a fitness club, a 300 sqm swimming pool with 60 sun beds, a library and an internet lounge.

The resort will also feature a fully equipped meeting room for 10-200 persons. Tailor-made events for up to 200 people can be held in the traditional Thai house. In addition, the extensive lawn will provide an outside venue for up to 500 guests.

Centara Hotels and Resorts which currently operates 23 luxury hotels and resorts in major tourist destinations throughout Thailand and Asia, is aiming to have a total of 65 properties within the next five years.
