Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong an Official Hotel of East Asian Games

The Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games will be held in Hong Kong from December 5-13 this year with over 3,000 athletes from 9 countries / regions competing for 281 gold medals.

Held once every four years, the East Asian Games (EAG) is a major event in the Asian multi-sport arena. Due to its large scale, it is nicknamed the “Olympics of the East Asia”. The games invites athletes from all over East Asia including China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China, Japan, Korea, Macau China, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei and Guam competing in 21 venues for 1,700 events and expecting over 200,000 spectators.

As a preferred hotel the Cosmopolitan will be providing 200 rooms to accommodate the badminton, shooting, table tennis and rugby teams from November 30 – December 13, 2009.

The hotel is within short distance to Hong Kong Stadium, South China Athletic Association and opposite the Queen Elisabeth Stadium.

“We have prior experiences in hosting world class sports events for example rugby, soccer, hockey, swimming and badminton and in hosting world class athletes we are well acquainted with their special needs including meal requirements, etc,” said Anita Chan, General Manager of Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong.

“To welcome the teams, the hotel is undergoing a  facilities upgrade including the installment of flat screen TVs and improved gym facilities. We will surely make the most of this golden opportunity to offer top quality lodging and other food and meeting services to athletes from East Asia, and also showcase Hong Kong as the city of hospitality.”
