Rene Balmer joins Absolute Hotel Services as Vice President

Bangkok-based Absolute Hotel Services has appointed Rene Balmer as Vice President Operations & Technical Services.

Mr. Balmer has over 26 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently he served as general manager - operations of Lebua Hotels and Resorts, The Dome at State Tower where he looked after the entire F&B operations, engineering department as well as working on special projects for the hotel expansions in New Zealand.

Prior to that he was executive chef of the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa, leading a team of over 180 chefs for 10 restaurants including food catering for all Starbucks operations in Bangkok and increased food and beverage revenue to be ranked as one of the highest grossing food and beverage revenue producing hotels in Bangkok.

His other achievements include creating new concepts and the opening of a new restaurant when he worked at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket as executive chef.

Rene arrived in Thailand in 1997 to join The Landmark Bangkok as executive chef. Prior to that he worked in many hotels around the world including China, Egypt, Germany and Switzerland.

“Within the organization Rene will be working together with our chief operating officer in providing technical services as well as operations standard and guideline for pre-opening properties and operating properties for our clients,” said Jonathan Wigley, CEO of Absolute Hotel Services Co., Ltd.
