SmartPools launched in UAE

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Thursday, 29 January 2009

SmartPools are now available in the UAE. The Smart Pool is basically a swimming treadmill that offers a smooth, adjustable current that allows you to swim in the same place, akin to running on a conventional treadmill. It measures 15 by 8 feet and takes up only 130 square feet of built-up space and is an ideal solution for places where land comes at a premium.

Mr Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Chairman of SmartPools LLC said, “Technology is revolutionizing the way we workout. SmartPools is a unique swimming treadmill for fitness and recreation that aims to complement today’s hectic lifestyle and we feel proud to introduce it in the UAE. It is a next generation pool ideal for villa owners (who wish for privacy and convenience when exercising), hotels, schools, fitness centres and hospitals.”

A product powered by Ascenteus Malaysia’s SmartPool Technology, the patented SmartPool with aims to provide villa owners and others with an innovative lifestyle and fitness solution.

Mr Nuaimi explained, “SmartPools offers a volume driven water propulsion system as opposed to a pressure driven system. Water in the pool moves as a river does, at over 30,000 liters per minute. As a result the swimmer strokes in one place moving against an even current and gets a concentrated workout.”

A SmartPool was recently installed at Coral Beach Resort, Sharjah. Jean Pierre Simon, Regional General Manager of the Coral Beach Resort said, “We are delighted to be the first hotel in the UAE to have the SmartPool. It will offer our guests the perfect solution for water exercise and family fun.”
