Jetstar Group signs New Distribution Deal with Sabre Travel Network

The Jetstar group of airlines, including Singapore-based Jetstar Asia and Valuair, and Vietnam-based Jetstar Pacific, has signed a new distribution agreement with Sabre Travel Network, widening its global distribution reach.

For the first time, Sabre Connected travel agents can now access published fares content and booking capabilities for all Jetstar airlines. Through the Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS), travel agents will have access to inventory availability, and pricing, carrier specific display, interline and codeshare sales, interline e-ticketing, and confirmation of bookings. Access to these capabilities through the Sabre GDS will streamline the shopping and booking process for agencies and corporate travellers using a corporate booking tool powered by Sabre.

Australia-based Jetstar Airways, which already had an existing distribution agreement with Sabre, has upgraded its connectivity level for enhanced functionality with Sabre.

Entering into this new distribution agreement demonstrates the airlines’ move into a multi-channel strategy, a clear trend among value-focused carriers.

“Our distribution agreement with Sabre, with its strong regional and global presence and the value it provides, is an important part of our multi-channel distribution strategy. We believe Sabre will help us build on our partnerships with the agency community and key distribution partners to expand access to our fares for our customers,” said Jetstar’s Executive Manager Commercial David Koczkar.

The Jetstar Group includes wholly-owned Qantas subsidiary Jetstar Australia and partner carriers Jetstar Asia and Valuair in Singapore and Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam.

Jetstar Asia / Valuair is 51% held by Westbrook Investments Pte Ltd (Westbrook) and 49% by Qantas. Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam is 27% held by Qantas with other shareholders including its largest shareholder, State Capital Investment Corporation.

Collectively, the Jetstar Group of airlines operate more than 1,800 weekly flights to more than 50 destinations across the Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Asia Pacific region.
