Chaophya Park Hotel in Bangkok launches All-in-One Room Key / Subway Ticket

The Chaophya Park Hotel in Bangkok has launched an All-in-One Day Pass and Room Key Card. This brilliant new initiative, allows guests to not only use the card as a regular room key, but also as a subway travel card.

The Bangkok Metro company joined forces with hotels along the MRT route to encourage their guests to promote public transportation. The Chaophya Park Hotel is the first hotel in Bangkok to offer its guests this brand new “All-in-One Day Pass and Room Key Card”.

“Many of our guests choose to stay with us because of the close proximity of the subway or MRT as it is called in Bangkok. It makes getting around town so quick and easy. For instance we are only 12 minutes from Asoke where you can link to the BTS skytrain,” said General Manager of the Chaophya Park Hotel, Mr. Andrew J. Wood. “The first ever All-in-One Pass and Room Key Card will allow guests that are staying with us and who ride the subway to carry just one handy card. The Chaophya Park Hotel is extremely proud that we were chosen to launch the pilot programme.”

While the Bangkok Metro company has started working with other companies to promote the use of its system, it still has not come to an agreement with the BTS system (skytrain) in Bangkok which would allow the same ticket to be used on both systems. Currently, different tickets are required to travel on the Skytrain and the MRT. This side-issue of cross system compatibility, for tickets and access, will become even more important when the airport train finally opens in December, introducing a third train system to the transport options in the city. Despite this, the link up with hotels such as the Chaophya Park Hotel is a very welcome move, and a welcome advantage for tourists visiting the Thai capital.
