HICAP Update Japan, taking place May 26, 2009 at the ANA InterContinental in Tokyo, Japan, has confirmed that President and CEO Jesper Koll of Tantallon Research Japan KK will be a keynote speaker at the event.

Koll who is the former chief economist of Merrill Lynch Japan will be presenting on the world economic recession. In his discussion, Koll will be looking at the recession timeline and giving an analysis of the situation. Koll will attempt to answer the question all those in the hotel investment industry and elsewhere are waiting for; “When will this end?”.

Koll has a strong history of predicting the economic future of Japan. Prior to his role at Merrill Lynch, Koll worked at hedge fund Tiger Management LLC and before that as chief economist at JP Morgan in Tokyo. He currently is a regular columnist for Business Week’s Asia Insight. His analysis and insights have earned him placement on several Japanese government advisory committees. He is also one of the few non-Japanese members of the Keizai Doyukai, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives.

During HICAP Update Japan, Koll will be among a number of industry insiders and expert speakers and presenters.

The event is part of a new one day event series put together by the hosts and organizers of Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), which takes place every October in Hong Kong and is one of the region’s largest and longest-running hotel investment conferences.

HICAP Update Japan aims to provide the essential industry information that investors need to know to survive this global economic down-turn.
