Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Monday, 23 November 2009

As part of the lead-up to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s unveiling of Madonna’s wax figure, the attraction is calling all Hong Kong locals to compete in an online ‘dance-off’ with the Queen of Pop.

Competitors have until December 11, 2009, to submit their own dance moves on video to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, set to Celebration, the first single off the Material Girl’s recent greatest hits album also titled Celebration: particularly apt as the competition will be played out through the festive season.

Participants will be judged and shortlisted via open online voting on YouTube and by representatives of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. Five finalists from the YouTube competition will then be invited to compete in-person for the ultimate prize. They will be judged by a panel consisting of popular local celebrities, dance experts and representatives from prize sponsors and Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai, Bret Pidgeon said, “At a time when we are all in the mood to celebrate, this dance competition is really going to kick the festivities up a notch. While Madonna has made some of the best dance videos in history, I am sure some of our local dancers could really give her a run for her money. Set to a song that would make even the most sedentary of us want to get up and dance, I can’t wait to see the outcome.”

There will be a total of three winners which will be announced at the official unveiling of Madonna’s latest figure on December 17, 2009.
