Three Japanese Hotel Brands join Galileo Best Available Rates Programme

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 2 March 2009

Travelport GDS has expanded its Galileo Best Available Rates (BAR) programme to include three Japanese luxury hotel brands: Okura Hotels & Resorts, The Hotel New Otani Group and Rihga Royal Hotels.

This development will provide Galileo connected travel agents with access to the lowest public rates on 231 major hotel brands representing over 41,000 properties worldwide.

Galileo introduced the BAR programme in 2004, eliminating the need for its connected travel agents to shop around endlessly for the best available rates. Through this programme, agents can quickly identify hotel participants through an indicator icon displayed within the Galileo system, ensuring greater agency efficiency and providing their customers the confidence that the hotel rates they book are the best available.

“As a leading provider of hotel content, Travelport is committed to providing our agency customers with access to the best available rates in the market. We are delighted to have the participation of three of Japan’s most prominent hospitality brands in our BAR programme and be able to give our agents an even wider choice of hotels,” said Joe Lim, Regional Director - Hotel & Car Service, APAC, Travelport GDS.

Okura Hotels & Resorts, The Hotel New Otani Group and Rihga Royal Hotels join other major chains currently participating in this programme. These include Marriot Hotels & Resorts; Intercontinental Hotels Group; Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc; Langham Hotels International; Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts; Oberoi Hotels & Resorts; Taj Hotels; Mandarin Oriental Hotels Group; and Millennium & Copthorne.
