Millennium & Copthorne Opens Hotel in Wuxi, China

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 22 June 2009

Millennium & Copthorne has opened its latest hotel in China, the Millennium Wuxi hotel in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Eastern China.

The hotel is located within the exclusive residential enclave of Court of Eastern Peace development, in the heart of the Wuxi New Development District. It is across from the Kodak factory and counts as its neighbours the manufacturing facilities of Bosch, Panasonic and Toshiba.

M&C currently owns or operates four other hotels in China, namely the Grand Millennium Beijing, Millennium Hongqiao Shanghai, Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen, and Copthorne Hotel Qingdao.

The company is also scheduled to open another hotel, the newly-built Millennium Chengdu, later this year.

The Millennium Wuxi hotel is an ecological and energy-conservation designed business hotel, furnished with classical Japanese inspired interiors.

The hotel has a total of 306 guest rooms, including 81 suites, each with its own private lounge. The hotel also provides residents with quality facilities, a water-purifying system, as well as a supermarket, bakery and travel agency.

Other facilities include a Japanese-style spa, an indoor swimming pool, an indoor golf driving range, and a Hot Yoga studio.

“Despite the economic downturn, we are forging ahead with our original road map to expand our presence in China,” said Mr. Richard Hartman, CEO, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc. “As M&C already operates hotels in the key cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen and Qingdao, it was only natural for us to then establish our presence in Wuxi, which is one of China's 15 key economic centres.”

Situated at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta Region on China’s southeast coast, Wuxi is only 128 kms away from Shanghai and is known as “little Shanghai” due to its developed industry and flourishing economy.

In celebration of the hotel’s opening, the hotel is offering a rate of CNY518 for Superior rooms and CNY618 for Deluxe rooms.

The rates include a complimentary upgrade where available, complimentary broadband access and breakfast for one person.

The promotional rates are valid until 20 September 2009 and are for single occupancy, subject to service charge and prevailing government taxes.
