One of Southeast Asia’s premier multi-sporting events, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2009, which will take place on Sunday 6 December, has already sold out. Athletes secured their places for the internationally renowned event known as the ‘Race of Legends’ in record time for the second year running.

Now in its sixteenth year, the event promises to be bigger and better than ever with 950 individuals and 50 teams participating amounting to a field size of over a 1000.

Entries are still available for the Kid's Splash 'n' Dash which will take place on Saturday 5 December at 8am. The organisers are still encouraging people to come along and spectate en route and support the event. There are places available to also participate in the 6K Fun Run, which starts at 8am on race day itself. Many past participants have used the Fun Run as a way of raising money for charitable causes and local businesses have taken part as a team building exercise.

The triathlon comprises a 1.8k swim, 55k cycle and 12k run. The 6k Fun Run is still open for entries. The 1.8k swim course at the Laguna Phuket Triathlon is unique in that it comprises two bodies of water. With some stunning scenery, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon makes a unique sporting experience.
