Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Thursday, 20 August 2009

High-rolling travelers will soon be able to enjoy an expanded focus on gaming in the land where it originated.

Crystal Cruises’ Chance & Fortune Experiences of Discovery cruise will sail throughout the Greek Isles, revisiting the origins of gambling and Tycho, the goddess of Chance, and her son, Fortune.

Departing 26 September 2009, the 12-day cruise will host extra tournaments in Texas Hold ‘em, Blackjack and Slots, with cash prizes and waived entry fees for Blackjack and Slot tournaments.

In addition to the tournaments, guests can pick up tips and insight into upcoming developments in gaming, and learn about the history of gambling from leading gaming historian Dr. David Schwartz, director of the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Classic and modern gaming films including the original Ocean’s Eleven, Bugsy, 21 and Casino Royale and others will play on dedicated theme television and the ship’s Hollywood Theatre.

“The programs on the Chance & Fortune cruise really allow guests to immerse themselves in the excitement of gaming, just as they would do at any world class casino,” says Mike Farrell, Director, Casino Operations. “To experience high end gaming while cruising through Greece is the ultimate gambler’s vacation.”

In the past two years, the Crystal Casinos have undergone lavish makeovers. Crystal Serenity’s plush gaming lounge boasts the latest in coinless Slot and Video Poker machines plus Roulette, Craps, Baccarat, 3 Card Poker, Blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. The Crystal Casino observes Nevada gaming rules, and complimentary cocktails are served for all players.

Complimentary gaming lessons are also available for guests exploring new skill while on vacation, or just looking to perfect their game.

Sailing from Venice, the voyage visits Corfu, Katakolon, Crete/Aghios Nikolaos, Rhodes/Lindos, Mykonos and Athens, Greece; plus Kusadasi, Turkey and a maiden call to Trogir, Croatia.

Fares start at US$4,700 per person, double occupancy, and include a US$1,000 per person ‘All Inclusive – As You Wish’ shipboard spending credit.
