Marriott has expanded its Courtyard by Marriott brand into the United Kingdom with the opening of the 218-room Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick Airport, under a franchise agreement with Kew Green Hotels. The general manager of the new hotel is Janey Sheehan.

To celebrate its opening, the hotel is currently offering a special introductory rate of £69 (US$95) per night.

The Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick Airport is conveniently located within reach of the airport’s South Terminal, with direct access to the M23 and surrounding motorways. Travelers can also enjoy easy access to central London, the hotel being just a short 30 minute ride from London’s Victoria station via Gatwick Express train.

“We are thrilled to take our Courtyard brand in a new direction in the United Kingdom and Europe, keeping the brand fresh and relevant to today’s traveler,” said Jurgen Giesbert, executive vice-president for Marriott’s United Kingdom, Middle East and Africa region. “Business travelers today are looking for quality and innovation as well as service and style at a fair price. We are confident that this new contemporary Courtyard with its distinctive European flair will be a big hit with travelers from around the globe, offering value and consistency of product and service for which Courtyard is known.”

The Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick Airport’s well-appointed guest rooms feature luxury bedding, modern bathrooms, ergonomically designed desks and chairs, high speed Wi-Fi internet access, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, and a flat-screen television. Twenty-two junior suites are available which include additional amenities such as a sofa, fresh coffee machine and plush robes.

Dining options include all-day casual dining in the lounge and Volare Restaurant, which features a Mediterranean inspired menu and is open in the evenings. The hotel also features a 24-hour “Marketplace” in the lobby, offering snacks, drinks and a few travel essentials.

Additional features of the hotel include a fitness center and three meeting rooms with 1,200 square feet of meeting space.

In addition to Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick Airport offers guests a dedicated business center in the lobby where travelers can check-in and print out boarding cards and view flight information on computer terminals. A foreign exchange service is also available.
