International architecture firm Steelman Partners, which specialises in entertainment design, has completed its latest Macau project, a total redesign of StarWorld Hotel’s level one casino floor.

The renovation began in mid-May of this year under Steelman Partners’ direction. The entertainment architects were hired by Galaxy Entertainment Group to lead the renewal of the level one casino floor at its five star flagship hotel.

The main purpose for the casino floor refurbishment was to enliven the existing 3,000-square metre interior, with the priority to create a more exciting atmosphere for guests.

“Our design brief was to create a casino interior that was energetic and aesthetically appealing. With the inclusion of LED features, the lighting and finishes have been redesigned to create an elegant and modern layout for hotel guests,” said Steve Anderson, Chief Designer of the project.

Much of the casino renovation is centred on Steelman Partners’ redesign of the floor’s lighting. As well as two LED feature walls, which are programmed with elegant sparkling and rain effect movements, new chandeliers have been custom designed to contribute to the richness of the casino’s interior design theme. Consistent with the gaming table lamps and floor carpet, the chandeliers are made up of pallid cream and red colours, prominent in Chinese culture.

“For a successful project we always try to design an environment that suits the expectations of the venue patrons, but we’re also keen to take inspiration from the local culture and traditions. With the design of the StarWorld casino’s interior, we have done that,” said Paul Steelman, Founder and CEO of Steelman Partners.

The sophisticated design of the casino floor is accentuated by the high ceiling, which reaches as high as seven metres in some areas, achieving an open and exciting atmosphere.
