Claridge’s Christmas Tree to be Designed by John Galliano for Dior

This year, The Claridge’s Christmas Tree is to be designed by John Galliano for Dior. The tree will feature sparkling leaves and orchids in silver, white and blue, as well as crystal, giving the impression of the tree being frozen. The tree will be unveiled in the lobby of the art deco-designed hotel on 1 December 2009.

The partnership marks the first time in the hotel’s 112 -year history that Claridge’s has worked with a famed fashion designer on its Christmas tree. Claridge’s historically becomes a beacon for social London life during the festive season.

Commenting on the collaboration, Claridge’s General Manager, Philippe Leboeuf said, “We are very excited to be working on this ground-breaking project, a first is Claridge’s history, with the legendary John Galliano. Both Claridge’s and Dior are synonymous with the combination of impeccable heritage, inherent glamour and contemporary thinking so we are looking forward to see his creative vision for our tree! This is another bold step in Claridge’s history to provoke, confound and delight our guests.”

Dior Creative Director John Galliano, said, “I am thrilled that Dior is collaborating with Claridge’s this Christmas. I love to visit Claridge’s when I am in London, particularly at this time of the year – and I hope to bring a twist to the traditional tree. I want to combine the festive with the innovative, the spirit of Dior with the beauty of Claridge’s, and create something spectacular that will inspire the perfect start to the season!”

The ‘Claridge’s Timeless Christmas’ two night package from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day in a Superior King room includes traditional mince pies, stolen and mulled wine on arrival, pre-dinner cocktails in Claridge’s Bar and a five course Christmas Eve dinner featuring Goose and buche de Noel in the Foyer & Reading Room.

An overnight stocking for each guest is delivered filled with edible delights leading into a full English breakfast on Christmas Day followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride through Mayfair with hot chocolate and marshmallows before an indulgent eight course Christmas Day lunch served in the French Salon & Drawing Room.

On Boxing Day guests can enjoy breakfast and a late check out of 4pm with a Claridge’s Christmas pudding and a WWF “Help Save Me” fluffy polar bear or penguin to take home as reminders of the special occasion.

The Claridge’s Timeless Christmas’ is £865 per person per stay from 24th – 26th December 2009.
