Crowne Plaza Causeway Bay Holds Mass Recruitment Drive

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 15 June 2009

The Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Causeway Bay, owned by the publicly listed property developer S E A Group and managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group, last week launched its first-ever mass recruitment drive in Hong Kong to fill 120 hotel positions by the time it opens in the last quarter of 2009.

Situated on Leighton Road just five minutes’ walk from the renowned Times Square, Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Causeway Bay held its mass recruitment campaign on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in Dah Sing Financial Centre, Wanchai.

This is the first mass recruitment initiative following a series of targeted recruitment exercises carried out by the hotel.

Around 120 job vacancies at 30 junior and supervisory positions were available in six disciplines, namely engineering, finance, food & beverage, front office, housekeeping and sales & marketing.

Calvin Chu, general manager of 263-room new Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Causeway Bay, said, “We are pleased to make employment opportunity available to the local community by opening doors for experienced hoteliers and fresh graduates who are interested in the industry.”

During the mass recruitment days, each candidate had a chance to take part in individual and group interviews. Through competency-based Q&A sections, group discussions, interactive games and role plays, interviewers determined who can attend the second interview by the end of June.

Following the mass recruitment campaign will be a six to eight weeks familiarization program, giving each newcomer a comprehensive orientation on corporate culture, goals and missions, departmental operation, product knowledge, customer service, health and safety, legislation, and languages.
