Liz Savage joins Virgin Blue as Chief Commercial Officer

Liz Savage has been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer for Virgin Blue Airlines Group. Ms Savage will commence duties at Virgin Blue from the end of March, 2010.

With a background in the highly competitive UK low cost scheduled airline industry, Ms Savage was most recently the Managing Director for Monarch Flights and Holidays, one of the largest airlines in the United Kingdom and provider of dynamically packaged holidays.

During her time with Monarch Airlines, Ms Savage was responsible for delivering a renewed positioning and strategy for the scheduled carrier including rebranding the business and stream-lining the route networks, as well as introducing innovative products and services, especially online.

Prior to working at Monarch, Liz worked for easyJet for nearly ten years. Having joined the business at its beginning, she held a variety of commercial posts, culminating in a role on the carrier's Board and was tasked with leading the creation of business strategy, driving cost efficiencies and smart product development.

Prior to joining Monarch Airlines, Ms Savage achieved a Bachelor of Engineering (Hon) Degree as well as a Master of Science in Air Transport Management. She has also had an extensive career with EasyJet Plc including roles as the Business Development Manager, Integration Leader and, from 2003-06, was the Director of Business Development.

As Chief Commercial Officer with Virgin Blue Airlines Group, Ms Savage will be responsible for revenue management, sales, product and services, communications, marketing and brand management across all four airlines including Virgin Blue, V Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue.
