Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Thursday, 15 January 2009

On 10 February 2009 the Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi Minh city will host a fine-dining wine event with renowned French wine-makers Bouchard Pere & Fils at Reflections restaurant.

Ms.Anne Deraisme, export manager for Bouchard Pere & Fils will host the dinner, presenting a selection of the famed French wine.

Ms. Deraisme has several years experience with Bouchard wines and is now focused on growing the Asian market.

“For anyone who loves Burgundy, Bouchard Pere & Fils is high on the list of premium pours,” said John Gardner, the Caravelle’s General Manager. “That an estate this legendary is paying this much attention to Vietnam is a boon for the city’s aficionados and speaks well to Ho Chi Minh City’s growing sophistication as a market for the finest wines.”

Bouchard Pere & Fils wines are entrenched in French history, from the 16th Century Kings of France to the French Revolution. The company was originally founded by Michel Boucher in 1775 in Volnay and passed down through generations.

At the 10 February event, suitably matching European and Nordic culinary delights will be served by Swedish Executive Sous Chef Andreas Askling. The tantalizing menu features thinly sliced beef tenderloin with pickled onion and apricot jam; pan seared deep sea scallops with marinated green asparagus, cherry tomato confit, bacon vinaigrette, caesar salad shooter; and mouth-watering crème brule.

The 8-course Wine Dinner begins at 7pm in Reflections Restaurant, with aperitifs served from 6:15pm. It is priced at $65 net per person.
