New Board at Tourism Vancouver

Tourism Vancouver's new 15-member Board of Directors for 2009/2010 represents a cross-section of the organization's 1,000 members.

The board is responsible for policy issues, as well as ensuring that the organization's business and market development plans, along with corresponding financial plans, are developed, endorsed and monitored.

Tourism Vancouver's Board of Directors are:

- Rick Baxter, President, CEO, West Coast Air (Chair)
- Geoffrey Howes, Director of Operations, Toseki Entertainment (Past Chair)
- James E. Terry, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Armstrong Group (Chair Elect)
- Susan Anderson, Executive General Manager, Sandman Suites on Davie
- Warren Buckley, President, CEO, BC PavCo
- Gary Collinge, General Manager, Hampton Inn & Suites and The Georgian Court Hotel
- Larry Donen, President/Principal, DCI Strategies
- Peter Frcek, General Manager, Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel
- Howard Jang, Executive Director, Arts Club Theatre Company
- Michael McDaniel, President, CEO, Pacific National Exhibition
- Francis Parkinson, General Manager, Fairmont Waterfront Hotel
- Susan Roberts, Managing Director, CongressWorld Conferences Inc.
- Jonathan Rouse, Dean, School of Hospitality, Vancouver Community College
- John Sandor, General Manager, Sutton Place Hotel
- Chris Simpson, Director, Vancouver All Terrain Adventures.

"Tourism Vancouver's new board is a great example of high-achieving individuals who are motivated to contribute to the tourism industry as a whole," said new chair, Rick Baxter, president and CEO of West Coast Air. "This year's priorities include focusing on getting our tourism industry through a challenging year by finding new opportunities, and making sure that hosting the world during the 2010 Winter Games period helps realize our industry's short, mid and long-term goals. We will also continue to work with government and tourism partners to move both Vancouver and British Columbia forward as premier leisure and business travel destinations."

Tourism Vancouver also confirmed Ernie Pshebnisky, director of Association Sales at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, as the winner of the Hugh B. Main Lifetime Achievement Award.
