Thailand vs. Challenger TV to Hold Opening Event in Bangkok

The new series of televised Muay Thai events poised to elevate Thailands national sport to the level of top fight entertainment while highlighting its position as a leading martial art, is to debut with a grand opening event in Bangkok on 16 January 2010 at Siam Paragons Royal Paragon Hall.

Organized by Elite Boxing, the first of the Thailand vs. Challenger series will take place in March with Thailand vs France at Baan Klang Stadium in Pathum Thani. In May, Thailand takes on China at the Laguna Phuket, in July the Royal Cliff Pattaya is host to Thailand vs Russia, and then the Baan Klang Stadium is again a match venue in September, this time for Thailand vs Japan. In November, its back to the Laguna Phuket for Thailand vs Australia.

Throughout the televised series top ranking Thai Muay Thai boxers will face challengers from around the world. Acting as ambassador for the series will be popular television host and DJ Piyawat Khempetch. Sanctioned by the World Muay Thai Council (WMC) and in conjunction with promoter, Songchai Ratanasuban, each event will feature Thailand vs. Challenging Nation bouts plus title fights and female bouts.

General Chetta Thanajaro, President of the World Muay Thai Council said, We believe that the new Challenger series will provide a timely boost to Muay Thai with top level bouts providing really exciting matches between our home grown boxers and talented challengers.

Toli Makris, Managing Director of Elite Boxing, added, The opening event in Bangkok on 16th January will introduce the new Thailand vs. Challenger series with many of the elements that are set to present Muay Thai at its best both as a martial art and a televised spectacle.

The promoters of Thailand vs. Challenger are also currently negotiating the screening of a parallel reality show to the series featuring the fighters from the challenging nations in Thailand as they prepare to do battle in the Challenger ring.

Songchai Ratanasuban, Muay Thai and boxing promoter said, We are looking forward to the the grand opening of the Thailand vs Challenger series with great anticipation. When the series itself gets underway in March we believe it will quickly capture a huge audience, many of whom will also appreciate its entertainment value.
