Special Olympic Visa Promotions at Hong Kong International Airport

To celebrate Hong Kong International Airport's (HKIA) status as the official airport for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Equestrian Events. Souvenirs and lucky draw prizes are available for Visa cardholders throughout the airport.

Running until August 27, Visa cardholders will receive free exclusive Olympics souvenirs when their spending reaches specified amounts. Cardholders will receive a Visa Olympics Pin when they spend HK$300 or more, or a set of Visa Olympics Chopstick Pens when they spend HK$2,000 or more.

In addition, Visa cardholders will be eligible for the Visa “Million Dollar Travel Bonanza” Lucky Draw for each HK$500 spent on shopping and dining with their cards anywhere in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong International Airport. Winners can receive travel rewards total worth more than HK$ 1 million.

To maximize the Olympic ambience at HKIA, until August 31, travellers can enjoy the Olympics spirit at the “Interactive Sports Arena” in Terminal 2, which has been jointly set up by Worldwide Olympic Sponsors.

The “Interactive Sports Arena” incorporates the Panasonic VIERA Sharing the Passion for Olympics, Lenovo Interactive Olympic Games, Kodak Beijing 2008 Olympic Games “Fuwa Souvenir Photos”, Free Olympics Fuwa Border Prints, and Equestrian Informative Panels, where travellers can enjoy a live broadcast of Olympic Games, at the same time  challenge themselves with Olympic quizzes.

With the thematic Olympic sports ground backdrop, visitors can also take pictures with an Olympic Fuwa Mascot and will have a chance to get limited edition Olympic Fuwa Souvenirs with purchases. Visitors can also transfer their images from mobile phones to the Kodak Media Kiosk via Bluetooth and instantly have the photos decorated with an Olympic Fuwa Border and print out for free. In addition, comprehensive information on Olympic Games Equestrian Events will be broadcasted at the Arena. The Coach Station on Level 3 of Terminal 2 is open from 11am to 9pm daily with free admission.

According to aMarch 2008 passengers tracking survey conducted by The Nielsen Company, total spending per person at HKIA increased by just 8% from HK$722 to HK$782 when compared to March 2007. In particular, transit and transfer passengers witnessed the highest increase in per consumer spend at around 10% from HK$836 in Mar 2007 to HK$919 in March 2008.
