Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Friday, 8 August 2008

Thailand-based Centara Hotels & Resorts has completed an extensive THB 200+ million renovation of the Centara Grand Beach Resort, Samui. The resort is located along Chaweng, one of Koh Samui’s finest beaches.

Designed in a colonial architectural style with its own extensive landscaped gardens and situated directly on the beachfront, the 4 storey hotel has 203 deluxe sea facing rooms and suites all with private balconies, in a complex of units designed to accentuate the natural tropical environment.

A central feature of the hotel, the stunning lobby with its sweeping staircase - reminiscent of a set from “Gone with the Wind” - received THB 12 million of loving care to ensure that it retained the style and elegance for which it is justly renowned.

Over THB 160 million was lavished on the 203 guest rooms and suites – THB 90 million on the normal rooms and suites and a THB 70 million on the pool suites.

The rooms, which are particularly spacious, include multi-channel satellite television, in-room video movies, music channels, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and personal safe.

Starting at 60 square metres, the Pool Suites offer luxurious accommodation. All feature private plunge pools and all include membership of The Club – with 5 complimentary food servings daily and complimentary cocktails and canapés every evening amongst a host of other benefits.

To complete the renovation a further THB 20 million was lavished on Spa Cenvaree – Centara Hotels & Resorts signature Spa brand which features at Centara Hotels & Resorts properties around Thailand.

For those who want to relax and rejuvenate themselves and create a whole new sense of Wellbeing, Spa Cenvaree is a world-class Spa encompassing the latest in health, traditional beauty and wellness therapies in surroundings that blend impeccably with the natural environment. Facilities include treatment rooms with distinctive colour schemes, a Thai sala, relaxation lounge, wet treatment room with chromo therapy, private couple suites with Jacuzzi, and an open-air nail sala surrounded by lotus ponds.

With 9 restaurants and bars the hotel has something to delight everyone including Zico's Brazilian Grill and Bar, serving grilled meat and fish in a vibrant bar atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant also features live Brazilian music and entertainment. For authentic Thai cuisine head for Spice Island, and Hagi is renowned as one of the island’s finest Japanese restaurants. Palm Grove is a casual and trendy all-day restaurant serving international and Asian cuisines, while Seabreeze Beach Bar and Terrace is the ideal place to refresh with snacks and beverages throughout the day and early evening as you enjoy the great views. The hotel's Islander (not to be confused with Samui's extremely popular bar/restaurant of the same name) is the place for pre or post dinner drinks and to listen to the smooth sounds of the hotel band..
