Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 7 February 2008

The Alila Cha-Am, a member of Design Hotels, a contemporary beachside resort on the Gulf of Thailand has opened for business. Located just two hours south of Bangkok, guests are welcomed to a striking retreat where futuristic architecture seamlessly blends with the lush environment and white sand beaches.

Designed by pre-eminent Thai architect Duangrit Bunnag, the resorts 79 signature rooms and villas are conceived as personal retreats: spacious and elegant. The ultimate suites - the pool villas - serve as full-scale sanctuaries. Guests are indulged with 297 square metres of luxurious spaces, complete with private garden, pool and terrace.

Clean lines and strong geometric forms throughout are softened by a palette of wood, limestone and subtle marble finishes for an understated yet unforgettable impression. Arrival at the Alila Cha-Am offers a spectacular prelude to the experience within. A grand entrance stairway leads to the large open-air lobby with views across a rooftop reflection pool towards the ocean horizon. Gardens, courtyards and terraces balance privacy and connection with the tropical surroundings.

Indulgence comes in many forms at Alila Cha-Am. Spa Alila comprises treatment and massage suites surrounding a thermal mineral pool. The Chill Pool and Red Bar are a meeting point offering lounging by day and candle-lit celebrating by night. Dining is a highlight of the Alila experience, brought to life at the resorts restaurants poolside dining at Motion, and rooftop alongside the reflection pool at the Zen-style Clouds Loft. Both the spa and restaurants feature ingredients from the resorts own organic garden.

Guests can also engage with the destination in a truly personalised way through Alila Experiences tailored packages that offer culinary and cultural excursions, intimate couples celebrations, wellness and active lifestyle pursuits.
