Aptly named after the Kandoo tree which is found in abundance on the idyllic island in the Maldives, the Kandooma, which opens this coming June, features spectacular architecture inspired by sea barnacles.

Accommodation for guests is housed in villas with white washed timber and floor to ceiling glass windows that look out on the aquamarine vistas. Modern amenities are thoughtfully incorporated to ensure guests remain wirelessly connected to the world … that is, only if they want to.

Dining at Kandooma infuses the flavours and cooking techniques of The Mediterranean and Asia; an ideal mix for the warm climate. Moonlit beachside dinners, take-outs, cook-your-own-BBQs and castaway picnics are frequent events, as are the sunset cocktails and tapas on the rooftop of “The Kitchen’, Kandooma’s upscale dining concept.

This tropical isle, close to many great dive sites, has an internationally accredited dive centre, offers numerous water sports, a kids’ club and a host of other exciting recreational activities and indulgent pursuits.

Kandooma now invites all travel trade friends who boldly embrace and celebrate life and its many experiences to soak up the sun, sand and sea of the Maldives with the resort’s soft opening special of an additional 30% off the already discounted rate on its website.

The offer is valid from 1 June 2008 through 31 August 2008 and applicable to all villa categories, inclusive of two American Breakfast per villa. What’s more, during this period, all speedboat transfers to the island is at 50% off and to top it off, the resort’s dive centre is throwing in a complimentary introductory dive for those who want explore the underwater marvels of the Maldives, which boasts some of the region’s best dive sites. And just for the month of June 2008, there is an additional daily F&B credit of US$10 and Recreation credit of US$ 5 per person.

Occupying an island in the South Male Atoll, Kandooma Island is situated about 35km away from Male International Airport and can be reached via speedboat within 40 minutes. The resort will have a total of 160 garden and beach villas, duplex villas and water villas, including a Presidential Water Villa.
