Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Wednesday, 6 February 2008

HPL Hotels & Resorts has appointed Pelican System to implement its web-based reservation system on the Kandooma~Maldives brand website. The island resort located in South Male Atoll of the Maldives is scheduled to open in mid 2008 and is now ready to accept advance bookings for stays starting from July onwards.

HPL Hotels & Resorts, a Singapore-based hospitality management company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore main-board listed Hotel Properties Limited (HPL), currently manages nine properties, all of which have implemented the Pelican System to assist them in rates management and allotment utilisation.

According to Mr William Chua, Revenue Manager for HPL Hotels & Resorts, the properties have been using the Pelican System for five years and it has proven that it has the flexibility to fulfil each hotel’s differing needs and requirements.

“With website access available round the clock, having an online booking system that enables guests to check rates anytime and make secured online reservations with instant confirmation becomes very important,” said Mr Chua. “With the Pelican system, we are able to offer our guests the comfort of making bookings anytime at their convenience. Not only that, they are also able to get instant confirmation and make secured online payment. It is definitely a good return on investment for the 24/7 customer service we are able to provide.”

“HPL Hotels & Resorts recently recorded a more than 70% growth in online bookings made on its own hotels’ websites for the full-year 2007 as compared to two years ago. This was a result of more intense Internet marketing and enhanced brand websites,” Mr Chua added.

Kandooma~Maldives will have 160 garden and beach villas, duplex villas and water villas, including a Royal Water Villa. Featuring accommodation that is fresh and contemporary in design, Pelican’s reservation pages will also be formatted and customized to reflect the hotel’s clean and minimalist concept. The secured payment facility offered on the web-based reservation system will also allow the property to offer various payment options for its international market of consumers, travel agencies and corporate clients.

“Pelican Reservation System can help a hotel to generate guests’ pre-stay satisfaction, starting from the moment they want to make an online booking,” said Mr Hartono Liman, Director of Pelican System. “Follow this up with user-friendly reservation, multiple room bookings, customized room preferences, meal reservations, airport transfer reservations, dynamic packages, rooming lists and language options etc … guests’ online experience will definitely be enhanced.”

The construction work on Kandooma is progressing according to schedule. Recreational facilities on the island will include several restaurants and bars, a spa and gym, a swimming pool with Jacuzzi, a books-music-movies library, a football field, a retail shop, Internet stations, a diving school and seaports centre.

Pelican System has offices in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the USA and Mexico. .
